Moist Healing

Many of us were raised to believe that most cuts and abrasions heal best when allowed to scab over and remain dry. However, research as early as the 1960s began to show that for most wounds, both acute and chronic, a moist healing environment actually promotes faster healing, with less risk of scarring. The principle of this treatment is base on maintenance of a moist environment in the wound. This helps cell division and movement within the wound, maintains the correct pH at the affected site and fundamentally influences all phases of healing. Moist environment have up to a 40% shorter period of healing compared to dry dressings. Moist healing ointments, such as Wound-Be-Gone® forms a stable environment for wound healing, retains moistness, positively affects pH and protects the affected site from contamination. Wound-Be-Gone® creates a flexible seal over a wound, keeping out dust, dirt and bacteria, while also providing a liquid medium for healing enzymes to move around within. Such a healing gel prevents a scab from forming, which makes a wound less likely to itch and crack, lowers the rate of infection, heals up to 50 percent faster than scabbed wounds, and results in significantly less scarring. For all types of wounds, minor or serious, chronic or acute, Wound-Be-Gone® moist healing gel provides the optimal environment for healing.
