Surgical Incision
Surgical incisions are at serious risk for infection if not protected properly. These wounds are often very deep, extending past the dermis, and into the deep tissues of fat and even muscle. Thus, if infection does occur at the incision spot, it can spread quickly to other parts of the body, even becoming systemic. Surgical incisions can become infected due to contamination during the original surgery, or through environmental contamination at any point in the healing process. To prevent infection at surgical incision sites, it is important to keep the surgical cut covered and protected from the environment; Wound-Be-Gone® provides a durable, flexible covering for such wounds. In additional to sealing out environmental contaminants, Wound-Be-Gone® prevents scab formation, which decreases scarring. Even if infection does occur, Wound-Be-Gone® is an effective healing gel, as it neutralizes free radicals, and provides a moist environment to speed healing.
